What I use:
- Spray bottle with water inside.
- Kinky Curly Curling Custard (KCCC) or Shea Butter.
- Wide tooth comb or comb with long thin pointy end.
- Satin Scarf.
- Wash my hair with Giovanni Shampoo.
- Deep condition with Tea Tree Triple Treat Conditioner (keep on overnight with plastic cap, wash out in the am).
- Apply Kinky Curly Knot Today leave in conditioner.
- Section my hair and apply KCCC.
- Put my hair in 7 or 8 plaits and work on one section at a time.
- Loosen the first section, grab a small peice of hair (size of your twists) apply a nice coating of KCCC and twist hair. If I do the micro's, then I need to ensure the twists are good and tight so they will last. I twist tight to the root and keep my hands close together, careful not to take long strides. When I use this method, my hair will guide me and force me to move down when there's no more room . At the end of my twist, I twirl my hair around my finger so it will curl. I finish that section and move on.
- I move on to the next section. If that section has dried in the least bit, I spray the water to re-wet it (hair must be wet to use KCCC) and repeat step 2.
- Let it air dry, if I start early in the AM, it will be dry by the end of the day. You can pull your hair up in a high ponytail (will stretch hair) and wrap it up. If you want your micro's to be really curly (like a wet set) go to step 5.
- Group smaller twists (about 114 of them), into larger twists (total of 19 thicker ones) and pin curl the twists. This is an extra step to make them extra curly.
- Each night I spray my twists with water.
- Every other night I apply Shea Butter (to seal in moister).
- Wrap hair (Pony tail or pin curls).
- After about 2-3 weeks, I do have to re-twist my front, sides & back (my hair texture loosens), I can wear this style for about 6 weeks.
That's it for this style, photo's below:
Six Micro's twisted into larger twist.
Larger twists (19 in total).
